Environmental Phenomena
Those phenomena affect specific parts of the Backrooms.
Specific parts of levels
- Blood Moons - A rare phenomenon that spawns blood on affected levels, destroying living matter in the process.
- Botanicancer - An environmental phenomenon where vegetation grows on large human-made settlements, destroying them in the process, which forced most Backrooms groups to rely on existing structures to settle themselves.
Entire level
- The Blue Consumption - A phenomenon happening in the Blue Channel that destroys and creates levels in the Backrooms, that is used by the Backrooms Remodeling Company for their activities.
- Inversion - A dangerous phenomenon where colors of an affected level become inversed, followed by the inversion of gravity. This seems to be caused by an unidentified black sun.
- Destabilizing Storms - An environmental phenomenon where storms appear on an affected level, changing the very fabric of reality there in various aspects.
- Vortexes - Sudden manifestations of red energy in affected areas of levels, seemingly due to the source of the power of the Ambassadors getting out of their control.
- The Nibiru Cataclysm - Hypothetical phenomenon where a star of Ad Astra, a sublevel of Level 78 will explode, destroying the entire level and maybe even effecting the level that are linked to it by a threshold.
The whole Backrooms
- Liminal Echo - A theory of Dr. John Rhinehart, PhD, explaining that the Backrooms uses the human consciousness and twist its knowledge to morph the Backrooms so as to torment mankind.
- Frontrooms Reflection - Like Liminal Echo, this phenomenon gathers the similarities between the Frontrooms and the Backrooms under a single name and theory.
Personal Phenomena
Those phenomena affect people- single wanderers or entire populations
Affecting very speficific people
- The Infinite Wanderer - A phenomenon affecting only one wanderer at a time, who then goes on an infinite yet enthusiastic journey for an unknown goal.
- Avatarhood - Phenomenon of the Pantheon canon explaining the concept of an avatar and a champion in the overall mythology of the canon.
Affecting individual
- Directed Control - A phenomenon that makes people doubt their environment, thinking they live in somewhat of a simulation.
- Happy Dance - A phenomenon that creates an intense euphoria on affected wanderers, before their abdomen bursts, revealing a creature within it.
- Spiderposting - A phenomenon where affected people coldpost spider-related pages on the database, influenced by a mysterious force that multiple theories try to explain, from a disease to an old enemy of the Eyes of Argos.
- Doodletrapping - A phenomenon where the affected person is trapped in a sheet of paper in a drawn environment, that has been used in several M.E.G. experiments.
- Backronyms - A harmless phenomenon that makes affected people mispronounce acronyms.
- A Way Out - A classified phenomenon taking the form of a ritual supposed to be the exit of the Backrooms, instead having a terrifying consequence on the wanderer that performed it.
- Respite - A phenomenon affecting dead bodies, altering them, perhaps for an afterlife.
- Whispers - A phenomenon seemingly created by flowers in the Backrooms, causing the affected wanderer to lose his hearing of exterior noises while experiencing auditory manifestations. The nature of the stimulus depends on the type of flower.
- Generosity - A beneficial phenomenon that takes people to a strange level where they can rest.
- Genesis Delusion - A simple yet dangerous phenomenon where affected people think the Frontrooms do not exist and are a but a scheme.
- Forced Immortality - A phenomenon linked to Godhand where people cannot die, driving them insane with terrible repercutions.
Groups of people
- S.U.N., You Think You're Funny Aren't Ya? Undo This Curse! - A strange and cryptic phenomenon that affected the entire Backrooms with some hallucination effects, even on the very database.
- Godhand - A brutal phenomenon inducing rage and carnage to mortals.
- Forbidden Info - Phenomenon of the Pantheon canon that prevent people from understanding eldritch, otherworldly being and scriptures in the Backrooms.
No-Clipping
Those phenomena are linked to no-clipping
- No-Clipping - The most well-known and used phenomenon, that allows people to teleport from one level to another by going through a surface.
- Maybe, Maybe Not - Uninteresting phenomenon where people become unconscious when no-clipping.
- No-Clip Derailing - A rare phenomenon where an affected wanderer fails to noclip to the right location, remaining in the void in between the two places.
Other
Those phenomena affect other things.
- Radio Waves of the Past - Unexplained recordings that were received in the Backrooms without reason.
