Meg

History

MEG started as the effort of three people (overseers) to find an exit to the backrooms, something no established groups cared about anymore

-> so smaller groups would care mainly (would the MEG unite small groups trying to find an exit, gathering their ressources and knowledge?)

they therefore started to gather mainly newcomers, optimistic people but not that good at decision-making or just skills in general (that's how they started really relying on newcomers)
-> "starting MMORGP weapon" where most newcomers go here as the main guys who wanna leave, but as you live here you can realize you wanna stay and remake your life, but the MEG isn't that good at this

they started to make bases in places easy to access, and trading routes between all

as they grew (~2014) their mission started to shift to gathering info of the Backrooms out of desperation, sometimes to find an exit, sometimes out of fear and spite

they reached a breaking point where they were so bad at their stuff they lost a lot of qualified people (~2016) and had to find ways to keep developping (they always lost people but that's kind of 2024 backrooms TS where they actually reach a critical status)

but they healed somehow (idk if there on the site already)

Material

MEG tools would have firearms, firesalt-based? -> maybe one of the founding groups had expertise on them

but mostly "pointy sticks" -> knifes…

NOTE - organiguns exist so, keep in mind

they might use memory jars to collect info (tho recordings might be easier)

bicycles would be super OP -> easy to use and maintain + fast + doesn't need fuel + most floors are flat so yeah (folding bikes (yes that exist) would be useful bc carried in backpaks or on the back)

  • how would they create some of those stuff tho? BKR?

WARPBERRIES get-out-of-jail free card

The MEG could have some external collaboratiors from smaller groups, they are counted as in the MEG, hence why they deem themelve to be the biggest group (that and the fact they attract most newcomers that don't die too)

Pros/cons to be a meggie

MEG basically the starter weapon of a MMORPG

pros -> for newcomers, simple people who just joined, MEG brings hope, three meals a day and a place to sleep
most bases in the main 12 +hub are well-fed thanks to trading routes

the MEG is still morally good, or at least it wants to be (but not very good because they are unprofessional and kinda immature) -> some more immoral people are gonna eave for their own interest, but lauwful people too bc MEG is still kinda killing people

cons -> not much else lol, the MEG doesn't bring anything much more than hope, and also they're not that good at protecting you

but for the outposts the MEG creates for research or exploration, those guys are left to themselve and not helped

also they have so many people they start using them with low-income jobs or test subjects for exploration for example (hence the famous MEG logs) (the group is kind of a hypocrit therefore lol), so they usually exploit newcomers who are desperate for food/shelter (example with explorer to level 234565432345676543, or collectors) -> usually out of desperation to find an exit and understand the place, so lots of irrational decisions

whether they are good or bad depends could on the higher ups too basically, if they would send people to death or not, also depends on the outpost too

Organization

wings are defined, people create branches (for example Maksus's history branch) and teams are different parts of a branch

analogy -> hospital (wing), lab (branch), bacteriology sector (team)

wings : 7, all defined, linked to BASES
branches: created from the wings by authors, might be in MULTIPLE bases, outposts…
Teams: smaller scale, more specific

branches should be independant enough bc of how difficult it is to go from a base to another (even in main 12)

how does this system transcribes to the actual bases? Are branches between multiple bases? What about teams?
-> potential opportunity to let people create their own base, with their own branches (kinda like ariane circle)

Structure

  • "main bases" (finding a better name later) : the big 7, one for each wing (what about other bases other authors created? Edit maybe ?)
  • bases : big ones, bigger than outposts, more important, more people, allat

outposts, created for minor needs in a lot of levels by the authors, probably founded by a parent * base (for example a random ass outpost in level 867 with twelve people in it)

Overall vibe

What about the overseer ages? maturity and knowledge needed for them to bring together small groups

(maybe the underseers and allat would do stuff by themselve and kind of ignoring the overseers? would explain why they can be professional)

tho we have to remember that the MEG isn't professional: they got a good jumpstart, but they have a hard time maintaining the natural growth that can't control

THE MEG IS BIG BECAUSE THEY HAVE MANY NEWCOMERS, BUT DONT KNOW HOW TO MANAGE THEM

they are desperate to find an exit and understand this place, they do their best, but they are random people not trained people for the most part so they don't do a very good job most of the time

they motivate newcomers, but most oldies are disillusionned by the perspective of leaving the Backrooms, hence the perpetual loss of personnal + splinter groups

the three overseers

  • Justin (check draft to see how it goes)
  • Katherine
  • Andrew

(we need a survivalist/urbex guy, a charismatic speaker to get the settlements together, and a nerd guy maybe, maybe with that database stuff? Or someone who knows how to fight against entities rather than a nerd?) -> three traits/set of skills to distribute for them to be able to lead a small faction and survive before getting there (tho their inexperience would cause issues long-term in the group)

  • still teens? 18, should be in univ to have good skills

personality: to check with current pages

  • justin idk, optimistic?
  • kat has authority I think?
  • also andrew is joseph staline

maybe 19 yo to be able to have gotten knowledge from univ
maybe some of them wouldn't physically (same with brain ig) age? potential plot point
