Tournesol Test

Hey Tournesol, I did some research on my end after we met in Hippocrates-1 and tried to put everything down biology-wise. Your species is definitely not something I'm used to see, even in the illogical ecosystem of the Backrooms, but I did my best to archive and explain as much as possible. I hope it will help you keep the memory of your kind.

The most interesting fact about Lunar Chimeras is how disturbingly similar to mankind they were in terms of functioning. Although, as their name suggests, they possessed minor physical traits of other animals, their physical and cognitive capabilities are the same as a regular man. Unlike other humanoid species like Dullers, their internal organ functioning seem to be the same as a human being as well.

Tournesol assures not coming from human lineage, and the use of Frvyo Jade confirms this, as it shines like with any Backrooms native species. Moreover, it is very likely that Lunar Chimeras aren't natural species, but rather artificially created by some powerful force in the Backrooms, much like how Mother appears to be creating Denizens. Indeed, while many Backrooms entities' biological features make sense in their environment, some of those that Lunar Chimeras possess don't seem to correlate to their native level. Seeing the close relationship between the species and the deity of Thought of the Hoofstad Pantheon, said entity may very well have been the cause of their creation. It is likely their biology was intended to ressemble that of a human, perhaps to make them more familiar to us, but also to allow the two to coexist together. With historical cases of humanoid entity species like The Macchina coexisting with humanity on rather good terms, those hypotheses are very likely.

As for their physical biology, the most proemnient feature of Lunar Chimera is their white fur. Tournesol described their former home level as a rather cold forest, so this might have been a natural trait helping them survive the harsh temperatures of the place1.

However, the most impressive trait of this species is their ability to walk on their two hooved legs without balancing issue. Indeed, without feet and toes, being able to walk or even stand up on only too legs should be an impossible task. Physically speaking, this balancing seem to be achieved thanks to their tail, much like other animals of the Frontrooms. In addition to physical balance, Lunar Chimeras seem to also posess some innate reflexes, allowing them to balance themselve when walking like a human, but in a precise fashion. This ensures they can avoid falling because of walking difficulties or tricky terrain. It however remains difficult to say why such a complex and impractical leg structure is present on a bipedal being.

Lunar Chimeras don't only possess goat features. Indeed, they also feature a pair of functional white feathered wings. Unfortunately, as Tournesol's wings possess a malformation of size that doesn't allow them to fly, it is not possible to study how this counter-intuitive possibility could be achieved by beings with this weight and morphology. It is possible the muscles of said wings are more powerful than the ones in other limbs of the body, although confirming this theory would require a direct study of said muscular tissues.

Not all of the Lunar Chimeras' features can be explained by science, however. Indeed, the species possess horns that don't seem to possess any use. Even in the Frontrooms, the use of horns on animals like cows is still up for debates. Therefore, the hypothesises of said animals can be applied here. Yet, Lunar Chimeras don't use their horns as a defensive tools2, nor as a tool for seducing females3. The power of their jawbones also makes little sense for an omnivorous species. Indeed, while Lunar Chimeras as known to consume meat, this happens rather unregularely, and the species isn't known for hunting either. Such particularities could be linked to the other goat features they inherited, making some of them simply leftovers of their evolution from their initial form given by the diety of Thought.

To conclude, Lunar Chimeras were without a doubt the creation of a greater being, as opposed to a product of Backrooms evolution. While some of their traits make sense seeing their habitat, some don't posess any usefulness, being solely here for aesthetical reasons. This consolides Lunar Chimeras as a unique species within the Backrooms, not only because of their biology, but also because of their social traits. Overall, their similarities to humans are not to be diminished, as they allowed them to blend with some of the Lost societies, such as the one in Hoofstad.
