…Unnumbered levels are areas in the Backrooms which do not have an ordinal placement, and therefore cannot be numbered.

There are many reasons why a wanderer could have deemed their entry to be not worthy of a number. They can be logging a place outside of the Backrooms or lacking a physical form, which doesn't allow them to be added a numerical list representing normal, more classic levels of the Backrooms. It is also possible that an entry just didn't get released, and is simply lying around as a draft, or a strange narrative essay by some unknown wanderer. There are a lot of possible reasons for it, and it it left to the author of the entry, as most of the Backrooms databases are open for anyone.

Many of these levels were recently discovered; there are likely many more unnumbered levels to be found. If you have eyewitness documentation of any of these levels, do not hesitate to contribute your findings to the database!

Out of universe…
…sometimes, when writing a level, giving it an ordinal number placement doesn't make much sense. Prime examples of this are the Mental Palace, a level beneath your mind, or the Blue Channel, an area between all normal levels. You can have any number of reasons for omitting the level number, and placing your level in this list. Be creative, but make sure that your reason make sense!
